What Courage ๐Ÿ’š Really Looks Like In Business

Be courageous in your business

A few weeks ago, I asked the women in my Mastermind to ponder this questionโ€ฆ

In what ways have you been courageous?

After a short breakout, the women returned with a nearly universal response.

We donโ€™t see ourselves as being particularly courageous.

Hmmm.

We mistakenly assume that courage is about big feats of bravery. Like when someone rescues a person from a burning buildingโ€ฆ or jumps out of a perfectly good airplane ๐Ÿคฃ

But courage has nothing to do with the SIZE or the RARITY of the act.

Instead, it has to do with the HEART ๐Ÿ’šโ€ฆ quite literally. The Latin root of courage is COR. And that means heart.

When you are courageous, you are acting from the heart ๐Ÿ’š.

For business owners, courage takes on a special kind of flair.

Courage looks likeโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ’š saying NO to a clientโ€™s request even if it ticks them off

๐Ÿ’š rescheduling a meeting just because itโ€™s not a great time for you

๐Ÿ’š hiring an employee when youโ€™re scared shitless about paying them

๐Ÿ’š firing an employee when theyโ€™ve failed to measure up

๐Ÿ’š confronting a client about a past-due bill

๐Ÿ’š choosing to close your business

๐Ÿ’š deciding to pivot your entire life into doing something else that lights you up

This is what courage looks like for business owners.

This stuff IS NOT easy.

In fact, most of this stuff is what keeps us up at night, anxious, fearful, ruminating on all the ways weโ€™re probably going to screw it up.

And when you do act courageously, itโ€™s typically thankless. It happens behind the scenes, almost โ€œsilently,โ€ with no witnesses and, certainly, no one cheering you on.

Developing courage is like a muscle. You get better & better the more you do it.

This is one of the things we practice in the CEO Sanctuary Mastermind

We practice ACTING from the HEART ๐Ÿ’š. We practice making decisions that are in alignment with what we wantโ€ฆ and who we want to be.

And we also celebrate it.

We celebrate one another for making courageous decisions & taking brave actions because this is what the good life is made of.

Full freaking ๐Ÿ’š HEART ๐Ÿ’š alignment.

If you feel called to step into a place of greater courage in your business, I can support you. And so will your sisters in business inside the CEO Sanctuary Mastermind.
